Five Questions… with Elise from Maison Balzac

August 18th, 2012

We are charmed by the lovely Elise Pioch and have been delighted by her delicious candles. With fragrances redolent of sunshine, fields of Proven├žal lavender and the woods, they transport us to the South of France. Here, we ask Elise five questions to find out more about what inspires her.

What type of cheese do you like the most?
My favourite is Vacherin Mont D’or, an incredibly rich and unctuous cow cheese sold in its own wooden box (the packaging is as good as the cheese). We eat it with a spoon in France, how decadent.

What is your favourite smell?
I am literally obsessed with thyme. If you rustle a thyme bush, the fragrance instantly jumps out and takes you to the south of France.

Do you have a new favourite band?
I constantly live stream a french radio called Radio Nova. They play the best tunes, old and new.

Which flower do you love the most?
The rare and pretty peonies.

What would you do on your dream day off?
I would lie down in my garden and watch the clouds go by.
